Hygio is an integral part of the daily routine of many emergency services, with undeniable benefits in the daily disinfection of clothing and equipment. The Kanta-Häme Rescue Department uses the new Hygio a40 Medi uvc device in its daily operations.
– We acquired Hygio for the rescue department to facilitate and reinforce the maintenance and care of device and clothing hygiene, says Ville Lähde, Chief Medical Officer.
AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE DAILY WORK OF THE RESCUE SERVICE
The Hygio cabinet was purchased during the renovation of the station, and cooperation with Hygio has been successful.
The best thing about it has been the ease of use. It also feels and looks good. It’s just as easy to use as it should be: easy to learn without a manual.
Hygio has quickly become an integral part daily work at the Kanta-Häme Rescue Department, as the cabinet is in daily use around the clock where needed. It disinfects clothes, shoes and electronics such as VIRVE phones, mobile phones, computers and keys.
– We would still like to have a little more cleaning space for the electronics, Ville says.

HYGIO REDUCES THE WORKLOAD OF PARAMEDICS
The only challenge I have encountered so far has been the cleaning of medical backpacks. The Kanta-Häme Rescue Department uses a medical backpack brand with part of the fastening mechanism made of natural rubber. Ozonation is not a suitable cleaning method for natural rubber, because natural rubber becomes brittle during processing. However, Hygios has already had a clear benefit for coping at work:
– The Hygio cabinet has contributed to wellbeing, as its ease of use has reduced the workload of paramedics during the challenging Covid-19 pandemic, Lähde sums up.
