Hygio disinfection cabinets are in active use at the Rescue Department of Southwest Finland. The cabinets were purchased to reduce the amount of harmful PAHs that remain in the suits, which are not eliminated by normal washing with water. In addition, Hygio can be used to effectively remove pungent odours such as diesel or mould.
– The procurement was easy and the cooperation with Hygio went well, says Supply Officer Jan-Erik Engström.
Hygio is sporadically in active use, but in many cases, the cabinet is turned on several times a day.
– The Hygio cabinet is really easy to use, and the results of the disinfection process have been as expected. The cabinet is used to process fire-fighting equipment: fire suits, helmets, boots and gloves, Engström continues.

HYGIO EXTENDS THE LIFE OF EQUIPMENT
In addition to user-friendliness and improved well-being at work, the Hygio cabinets have also provided other benefits:
– On a few occasions, we have been able to rescue suits stained with diesel, for example. Before Hygio, they would have been thrown away as rubbish.
THE MAINTENANCE SERVICE ENSURES THE SAFETY OF THE EQUIPMENT
The Hygio purchase also includes a maintenance service to ensure that the equipment always functions properly and safely. The Rescue Department of Southwest Finland has been satisfied with the overall results.
– We have been happy with Hygio. It is easy to service the equipment, and we don’t have to worry about when to service the cabinets. I can warmly recommend Hygio products to other rescue services.
There are also ideas for improvement from active users. Among other things, the cabinets should have a digital program display that indicates the remaining program time.
– There could also be different sizes of equipment, because the size of the equipment also varies, says Engström.
